Although my passion is providing high-level translations and interpretations for individuals and companies, there's a lot of behind-the-scenes work to do in my business!

That said, I know a lot of people wouldn't complain if their full inboxes vanished without a trace - but handling emails is one of my favourite things to do! ✉️

How has your weekend been?

I’ve had a really energising weekend, which led me to think about how I have come to arrive in such a fortunate place – a place where I love my job, work with people who inspire me every day, and where I can continue to learn and develop my skills.❤️

I have come to the conclusion that a large element of getting to where I am today has come from an inbuilt persistence, and my absolute reluctance to ever give up!😄

🌟We all have dreams and aspirations that we hope to achieve in our lives – they could be starting a business, pursuing a passion, having a family or making a difference in the world. These goals are what give our lives purpose and meaning.🌟

But the road to success is not always easy; it can be filled with obstacles, setbacks and challenges that make you want to give up. And, in these hardest moments, I think it’s so important to remember the power of persistence. Persistence is your ally. With persistence, anything is possible.🌈

💪So, my message to you today, @Instagram community, is don’t give up on your goals. Know what you want to achieve and be persistent. Persistence is the quality that can separate those who achieve their dreams from those who don’t. It is the ability to keep going even when the going gets tough.

Persistence will help you pick yourself up and dust yourself off after a failure and keep you pushing towards success.

The road may be long and full of challenges, but with persistence anything is possible. Let’s embrace the power of persistence and make our dreams a reality.

Made in Italy comes to London - The bridge between Italian and UK Innovation Ecosystem

At the beginning of this month, the 4th edition of the Smau/Italy RestartsUp event, kicked off in London, strengthening the bridge between the Italian innovation ecosystem and the London and UK tech hub.

The opening networking cocktail was hosted by Italian Ambassador to the UK, H.E. Inigo Lambertini and Dino Sorrentino at the Italian Embassy, on May 2nd (by invitation only). The Italian Embassy in London is one of the most important Italian bilateral embassies in the world.

The Italian Embassy at No. 4 Grosvenor Square is a fascinating place, with a magnificent art collection and a lively history.

The event was addressed to investors, corporates and relevant players belonging to the Londoner's and UK startup ecosystem, interested in the delegation selected by Smau.

A lineup of 46 Italian startups was present, specialised in Food & Retail, Smart Manufacturing, Energy & Environment, Smart Mobility and eHealth sectors.

The Coronation is centred around a solemn religious ceremony that has remained largely unchanged for over 1,000 years. It takes place at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday 6th May 2023. I’ll be watching the ceremony with my family. A lot of places are holding big lunches where the whole community will join in.

I often get asked how I manage to interpret languages so seamlessly. They wonder how we can do this “magic trick” — interpreting smoothly and intelligently from one language into another without missing a beat. The truth is, it's not magic, but it is fascinating! 🤩

🗣️Interpreting requires a unique set of skills that are developed through extensive training and experience. We undergo rigorous training to hone our language and communication skills, as well as our ability to process information quickly and accurately. Our brains have adapted to this work in fascinating ways, allowing us to keep up with fast-paced conversations.

Through years of practice, we have also developed mental strategies that help us manage the cognitive load of interpreting such as chunking, note-taking, and prediction.

So next time you see an interpreter in action, remember that it's not magic - it's the result of years of training, experience, and fascinating adaptations in our brains! 🧠

We like to think that news in other countries doesn’t affect us, or that we’re so advanced we can outsmart anything - even the weather.

As an interpreter, I do research every day; as a result, I read about the economic conditions in other countries and what’s affecting industries.

Last summer in Europe, we all joked about ice cream makers & sunscreen manufacturers making a fortune – but we didn’t consider the negative impact the scorching summer had on traditionally “indoor” activities, like leisure centres, cinemas & restaurants.

Whether we like it or not, everything's connected + has a knock-on effect.

Did you know I’ve been working with Presence as a freelance interpreter for more than a decade?

Over the years I have been their Ambassador and have also worn the additional hat of team leader whilst undertaking interpreting assignments for them.

It was very flattering to be offered the role of Senior Business Development Manager for Presence, UK and Italy, and I admit, I didn’t have to think twice about accepting it!

I’ve been working with many of my clients for 20 years. That’s given me ample opportunity to get to know their work, their expectations and, above all, their personalities.

Finding out their likes and dislikes at the start made a huge difference to how we’ve worked together.

I treated the client relationship like a long term one from the start - researching their businesses, VIP clients & key dates in their calendar.

It’s great business practice (not to mention being a good human!) to care about your clients and be invested in their success.
