One of the easiest ways to meet people in the business world is via #networking.

The impact it has on you as an individual and your business is outstanding if done correctly.

This week I want to share with you 3 key reasons why you should be networking and why it has a massive impact on your business:

🌎 Business networking is more than just a selling and marketing tool, it’s a great place to build relationships and learn from others. Not only do you meet people from all walks of life, but you can build a long-lasting relationship with clients and future partners from all around the world, a benefit that money can’t buy.

📈 Another benefit of networking is to raise your profile. Finding and working with dream clients is hard, but if you attend a group regularly and develop strong relationships with other business executives you can build a reputable brand.

😊 Being able to connect colleagues with businesses both large and small SME’s and individuals with whom you know they’ll work brilliantly. They say it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. When we use our network for the power of good, incredible things can happen.

Next month (February 9th), I will be attending an exclusive member’s event The Global Network UK Business Networking Granaio in Piccadilly, hosted by the amazing UK CONFEDERATION by CONFASSOCIAZIONI which I am a proud member of.

Time for an Italian Connection?

We were so happy to see that travel to Italy has become easier with vaccinated, and unvaccinated tourists allowed to enter the country again.

Let’s start 22 with confidence!

The annual TerpSummit, a three-day online conference especially for Interpreters, is always a joy to attend, and this year was no exception. Working in a highly specialised field can sometimes feel quite isolating, so being able to meet (virtually) with people in the same industry, and share our work successes and difficulties was unbelievably useful.

This year’s conference title was Confidence Camp and, alongside the industry-specific sessions, I attended some thoroughly interesting workshops which focused on developing personal skills.

The session on Emotional Agility, held by Ruth Kearns Wollmann, particularly resonated with me as this is something about which I am truly passionate. This year one of my main objectives is to be more reflective not only of my successes, but where I stand emotionally, and I plan to follow the four steps (APPA – Awareness, Perspective, Purpose and Action) to develop Emotional Agility which Ruth detailed in her talk.

As always, huge thanks to Sophie Llewellyn Smith for her investment of time and energy in putting together and running this conference. Personally, keeping up to date with the latest research in the industry, and being able to brainstorm and target-set with my interpreter community, is vital to ensure that I can continue to provide the exceptional, cutting-edge service my clients deserve.

Italy is named The Economist’s Country of the Year, 2021

Italy is named The Economist’s Country of the Year, 2021

We were delighted (but of course, not surprised!) to see that Italy was named Country of the Year 2021 by The Economist. The competent leadership of Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, and the county’s excellent vaccination rates were praised by the publication, which wrote:

“For once, a broad majority of its politicians buried their differences to back a programme of thoroughgoing reform that should mean Italy gets the funds to which it is entitled under the EU’s post-pandemic recovery plan…”

Interestingly, the publication goes on to say that should Draghi be elected President (a job he has said he does not want), then the country should be warned, as it is likely a less competent competitor would take his Prime Ministerial role.

We are always happy to see Italy’s successes being recognised and it was heart-warming to read this article.
