Italy boasts an abundance of hidden treasures, places which you may not believe are real until you see them with your own eyes.
One such place is Cinque Terre. Have you heard of it? It’s such a beautiful spot I thought I’d transport us briefly, from the dark winter nights and chilly days into brighter, warmer climates, even if it is just through words on a page!
This iconic string of fishing villages on the Italian Riviera is one of my favourite escapes. With its cliffside homes, terraced vineyards, and crystal waters, Cinque Terre is a perfect blend of community, culture, and natural wonder. I’d love to hear about your own favourite towns in Italy.
These five charming hamlets: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, each offer a unique character and deep sense of community. But what makes Cinque Terre truly extraordinary is how it marries the tranquil simplicity of coastal life with the vibrancy of the Mediterranean, creating an experience that is both soothing and invigorating for all who venture there.
It is certainly one of my favourite places in Italy; not exactly an undiscovered gem (as it can be quite busy in summer) but certainly a place I’d recommend highly if you’re able to escape for a break.
Do you have a favourite place to visit in Italy? I’d love to hear about your most loved towns and cities; perhaps I’ll feature your favourite Italian place in future articles! (Thank you so much Laura for your suggestion!)
